So who am I?
Hello friends,
My name is Yafit. I have been playing with food since the age of two and in my daily life I help people make peace among themselves through food.
In my training I am a clinical dietitian (who is actually a nutritionist) and a fitness trainer, I also create content and develop recipes.
The content here on the site and on social networks is written with a lot of love for anyone who wants to learn, get to know and experience healthy and delicious recipes. Get inspired and ideas for smart food combinations, get to know new healthy food products and also schedule nutritional consultations with me, lectures or attend healthy cooking workshops.
So where did it all really start?
From an early age I have been living and breathing nutrition. The impact of lifestyle on the human body, and nutrition and exercise in particular, have always interested me. I used to observe the eating habits and body structure of those around me. I was intrigued by what people eat and most interested in how different foods affect how I feel and function throughout the day. I enjoyed playing with food on my plate and examined the effects of different textures and different eating styles on my personal sense of satisfaction from the food.
I come from a home of generations of cooks, on both sides. As a child, I mostly created interesting combinations on my plate. I enjoyed playing with the food, arranging it in different shapes, crushing it with a fork and discovering its texture. Curiosity and creativity accompany me in every aspect of my life. This curiosity caused me to create unconventional food combinations. I started developing my work in the kitchen during adolescence. As an athletic teenager (long runs) I started to create for myself balanced and varied meals after training.
During my undergraduate studies in nutrition science, I mastered the professional knowledge I acquired in cooking and preparing the meals I created for myself. I came with it to full maturity during my work as a health care and spa dietitian in the Carmel forests. There after work hours, I found myself spending hours in the kitchen creating for my own enjoyment Martha Stewart’s downright unhealthy cupcakes, just so I could understand the principles of baking so I could break them down in favor of healthy baking later on.
Over the years, I have developed the NutraCoach approach - A nutritional approach that is the foundation of my life philosophy. In order for us to be good at giving to the world, first and foremost we must feel good. In this approach, one listens carefully to the body, eating from a place that meets our real need while learning and applying the consciousness of abundance of eating. Getting to ourselves here from a compassionate and loving place, learning to pinpoint eating for our physical and emotional need, choosing foods that meet the need that is delicious and satisfying, moving and exercising in the types of activities that do us good and empower us. Many dietary approaches that are flogging the body and mind, in which food is treated as an enemy and uses the words "day offsets" "cheat meal" "I have sinned and now exaggerate" - are dietary approaches in which over time, the person trying to practice them becomes trapped and frustrated in the brain and body of himself. I do not believe in them in any way or way and they are not part of the way I walk. At the beginning of the nutritional accompanying process with me, I explain to my clients, I am not the policeman of the process they are going through, I am here to accompany them on the path we walk together.
NutraCoach approach - teaches its followers to understand the body's signal signs - for better or for worse. Proper translation of the body's warning signs and addressing a missing need - help us live in peace with ourselves. The accuracy of the nutritional menu leads to an improvement in the feeling of energy and vitality throughout the day and hence brings us to live in our healthy and optimal version. Translating the approach to a practical method with principles, trains my clients as opposed to their own nutritionists.
From a young age I live and breathe "and had your foods for your medicines" - proper nutrition is far beyond dieting and weight maintenance. The food we eat has an effect on our energy levels on a daily basis, on our mood, on our brain function and on diseases that will appear even twenty-thirty years from now.
During my years of service, I served voluntarily for two terms as a member of the Audit Committee of the Atid Association. - The Association of Dietitians and Nutritionists in Israel, I sat as the nutrition representative on the Parallel Medical Advisory Committee for the Parkinson's Association in Israel, I served as the Carmel Forest Dietitian, and for the past decade I have been the in-house dietitian on the " Healthy Living " program with Prof. Rafi Carasso. As a great believer in Maimonides' statement that " nutrition science will one day turn to disease prevention rather than cure," I continue to study, study, and research.
In my work as a nutritionist, I realized that one of the main obstacles in adhering to a healthy diet (and dietary, for those who need it) over time - is the lack of diversity that causes boredom from the routine and regular tastes. I have found myself developing creative and balanced recipes that suit both me and my clients for their different needs: whether they are in the process of losing weight, avoiding gluten, diabetics, vegans or those with picky eating habits. These recipes met a different nutritional need, were made in flavors that everyone loves and from healthy, new ingredients that hit the market. Because in my perception, diet is a lifestyle. A lifestyle that should be easy and fun to live, in order to be able to stick to it for a long time.
This site, is my virtual home and is my way of making my knowledge and creativity accessible in the form of a tasty and varied proper diet for the whole family, even when there are special nutritional needs in it. For example: a mother in the process of losing weight alongside a diabetic father, a boy who avoids vegetables and a girl who is sensitive to gluten. This is so that at the family meal everyone can eat together from the same food, with an emphasis on full and varied meals.
Food, it is much more than a physiological need, it is a connection point in every massacre in our lives and we often turn to it for reasons that are not accurate for us, and thus do not receive the answer to the need that exists in us.
For a long time I found that it was hard for me to define what I was doing: it had creativity, science, empathy, helping others and lots of passion and love. During an in-depth conversation I had with Eyal Shani, he defined me as helping to make peace between a person and himself through food - whether through dietary advice, lectures, cooking workshops and my recipes that are here on the blog and on YouTube And in the book Yafit's secret recipes .
I have not yet well defined my doing myself, but the whole is greater than the sum of its parts - all the worlds I come from - the national religious world, sports, thirst for knowledge, love of the kitchen, passion for creation, social networks - are formed, crystallized and converged Slowly Pay one. I do not yet know where this journey will take me, but I am here to share with you along the way.
Thank you for being here!
I hope you enjoy the content on the site. May it be interesting for you, that you cook, that you experience, that you be inspired and that I enrich your world, if only a little.
